The Local’s Know! Here’s Our 3 ‘Local Favorite’ Cheap Eats in Park City

1 May 2009 By: Kevin No Comment | Editor's Picks

Park City has more than it’s fair share of fine dining restaurants, fancy sushi bars, and resort owned culinary masterpieces.  But when you just want to go out and get a good lunch under $8.00, make sure you check out these three local favorite cheap eats.

1. El Chubasco

el-chubascoThis local favorite, known as “chubby’s”,  is tucked away in a strip mall in Prospector. The fresh salsa bar is one of the best I’ve ever tasted, and it goes great with authentic Mexican specialties like tostadas, large burritos, fish tacos, and much, much more. Expect a huge crowd during peak lunch hours, but the wait is worth it. “I”m not sure if there is anything better then getting Chubby’s & a beer after a quick loop on the Prospector Trail!” – Kevin Smith

2. Szechwan Chinese Kitchen

The secret may already be out on Szechwan, but it’s a true local’s hotspot. The incredible lunch specials are the best value in town and the food is consistently superb. Average lunch combos cost $5.75 – $6.45.  Lunch specials run from 11:30am – 3:00pm and include egg roll, steamed or fried rice, and choice of soup.  Like El Chubasco, expect a large crowd during peak lunch hours due to their incredible value!  Favorite entrees include Orange Chicken, Moo-Shu chicken, Kung Pao Beef, and Shrimp Pan Fried Noodles.  Don’t be surprised if you find yourself going to Szechwan 2 – 3 times a week.

3. The Famous Spring Chicken Inn

A short drive from Park City is one of the oldest restaurants in the county. The Spring Chicken Inn serves up genuine comfort food in a historic, cozy atmosphere. Friendly locals frequent this restaurant because of the great food and excellent prices. Fried chicken is their specialty, but they also serve great breakfast. The drive towards Wanship is beautiful, or you can take the rail trail all the way there and make a day out of it. Either way, make sure you dine at this true piece of Utah history.
