Park City 4th of July Celebration
The 4th of July is always one of the best days of the year in Park City. Every local in town is out and about, along with thousands of visitors from around Utah and the rest of the country. There will typically be around 15,000 people watching the parade, hanging out in the park, and catching the fireworks later on in the evening. If you plan on coming out in Park City the 3rd or 4th, this is what you need to know:
July 3rd
Every year The Canyons throws a huge pre-4th of July party. This year there is a free concert at 7:30pm by the always entertaining Disco Drippers. This local 70′s cover band will have you dancing all night. A huge fireworks show follows the concert, probably around 9:30pm.
July 4th
The 4th of July in Park City is all about Main Street and City Park. Parking in town will be extremely limited, with virtually no available spots in the Main Street parking garages or China Bridge after 9am. I would suggest parking outside of town and catching one of the free buses in. There will be plenty of free parking in the Deer Valley lots, with direct access to the Main Street buses. Or, you could always ride your bike.
-7am: Venture over to City Park for the annual pancake breakfast. For a small fee, local boyscouts will be cooking up all of your breakfast favorites.
-8am: The Park City Ski Team 5K fun run is a great event to work off that breakfast. Registration is $20, and for more details contact Cole Sport at 435-649-4806.
-11am: Walk up to Main Street for the famous 4th of July parade. An Air Force flyover kicks the whole thing off, with over 70 floats celebrating Park City’s 125th anniversary.
-Noon – 9pm: All kinds of events at City Park, going all day long. Live music, food, a beer garden, kids games, rugby matches, and general chaos throughout the day. Come mingle with everyone in town and make some new friends. Maybe you’ll even score an invite to one of the multiple house parties around town.
-Dusk: Fireworks at the base of Park City Mountain Resort. You will be able to see them from most anywhere in the old town area, but some of the best viewing is around the golf course.
Have a happy 4th of July, be safe, and enjoy one of the best days of the year in Park City!
