Park City School of Wine Students’ Top Grade “Hearty Reds” Class 11/13/09
Grade = B+
Maipe Malbec 2008, Mendoza, Argentina, synthetic cork, $11.99
We had students in class who were looking for big reds and this wine delivered. Beautiful purple color with plum, ripe fig, flowers, and spices. This wine wasn’t over the top in tannins, (the stuff in red wine that makes your mouth feel tacky or dry,) and is perfect to open right now, ie: no time needed in the cellar. This would be a great wine to pair with a big slab o’ meat as it will stands up to the richness of the fat without overpowering it. Consider this with pizza, as well.
