Park City School of Wine Students’ Top Grade “Trippin’ on Wine Acid” Class 11/6/09
Grade = A
Oyster Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2009, screw cap, $10.99
An awesome New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is poured and gets a solid “A” from our students. The color is a straw green and almost sparkles. The aromas, as with other New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs, are very fruity with citrus strongly featured. Flavors get into the tropical fruits with crisp grapefruit as a backup. Why did the class like this so much? “It pairs perfectly with the goat cheese.” “It is great with all the samples of food,” (which included lemon, goat cheese, and red pasta sauce.) At the price, this is a solid go-to wine for pairing with fish, salad-based entrees, or white-sauce pastas where you want the wine to cut the richness of the sauce. ~Miss Fox
