Park City Ski Swap – November 5-7

27 October 2010 By: Kevin One Comment | News & Events, The Fall Line

With over 3 feet of snow in the upper elevations this week and about 8″ at my house in Park City, everyone in town has skiing on the mind. That means its time to pull out your winter gear to see what you need to buy this year, and what you can try to sell to make some quick cash. One of the best places to find cheap equipment or to sell your old stuff is the Park City Ski Swap.

Park City Ski Swap 2010

The Park City Ski Swap is one of the largest swaps in the country, and definitely the biggest in Utah. The last few years it has been held at the Basic Recreation Field House at Kimball Junction, with gear packed in tightly from wall to wall. It really is a sight to see. The Park City Ski Swap features new and used skis, snowboards, outerwear, and tons of accessories from local shops, as well as from Park City residents selling their used equipment on consignment.

This year, the Park City Ski Swap begins on Friday, November 5th at 8pm. Friday is by far the busiest and craziest day of the swap because that’s when you’ll find the best deals and the newest gear. The line on Friday will begin to form hours before the doors open, and is usually hundreds of people long. Last year it reached all the way to the Newpark Hotel and Cafe Rio! Show up with plenty of patience and be ready to wait, and you will have a good time.

The Park City Ski Swap does not allow any jackets inside the Field House, so leave your coat in the car. If it is too cold for you to go without a jacket while waiting in line, a coat check is available, but that line can be huge as well. Just wear a few base layers to stay warm. Also, to get through checkout faster, bring cash because the credit card lines are always longer.

If you plan on selling gear at the swap, keep in mind that the Park City Ski Team will take a 30% sales commission. This is their big fundraiser for the year, and your entrance fees and sales commissions will help out the young athletes in Park City. You can bring your used equipment to Jans or Cole Sport from November 1-4, or on Friday the 5th at the Field House. Any unsold equipment has to be picked up at the Field House on Sunday the 7th from 3pm-5pm. For more info, check out the Park City Ski Swap website.

Park City Ski Swap Hours:
Friday, November 5th: 8pm-1am, $10 Admission (under 12 free)
Saturday, November 6th: 10am-6pm, $5 Admission (under 12 free)
Sunday, November 7th: 10am-2pm, $2 Admission (under 12 free)

Come hang out with a bunch of local skiers and riders, wait in some lines, and find some great deals at the Park City Ski Swap. We’ll see you there Friday night!

Lots of product… but selling there and giving 30% to millionaires kids? I can barely even pay my rent, and I have a decent non ski resort/seasonal Job! Give me a break!
